Afternoon of Surprises

I came home from grocery shopping the other day and found my husband waiting for me. Why is this strange? Because he wasn’t at the hardware store or working in the yard, like he usually is on a Saturday afternoon. After helping me unload the groceries, he held in his hand two Lion king matinee tickets.

Even though the theater was full of children, we had a great time. I’m sure this surprise had something to do with me announcing my pregnancy last week. He’s a bit nervous around children, so I’m going to guess that he’s trying to ease into fatherhood a bit by being surrounded by children.

Now, if on date night he decides to take me out for a happy meal, then I’ll have to draw the line and make this kind of thing stop. By growing up as an only child, I can understand his nervousness, but I’m sure he’ll be a great father.
