Shakespeare's holiday foster sister is still looking for her forever home

Over the holidays, we decided a present we would give ourselves was to foster a dog over the holidays. This is a nation-wide program I found on Petfinder and it gives foster parents a break if they need to go home for the holidays. We filled out an application, went through a home visit, and drove into the city to pick up our holiday foster dog, Petra. A very cute, purebred blue Pomeranian, Petra needs a lot of TLC. She came from an auction for puppy mill mamas and was discarded after 4 years of being treated like cattle. She had raised her latest litter fairly recently and while she is shy of human interaction, she definitely had lots of love to give once she warmed up to us and Shakespeare. 

Ideally, I think it would be best to for Petra to be part of a household with adults (no kids), a gentle fur-sister or fur-brother and lots of love and gentle attention. She will truly be a great dog for someone looking to love this very sweet little girl.

Today is Shakespeare's birthday

Shakespeare is a rescue dog that was picked up wandering the streets of Chicago so we don't know his exact birthday but we do know we love him like crazy and he is the loveliest of love bugs so we decided Valentine's Day is Shakespeare's official birthday. 

His age is an estimate too (~5-6 years old) and to me, he will always look like a puppy even through we adopted him as an adult. We've had Shakespeare for 2 years and he fit into our family of 4 cats so well that it feels like he's been with us all along.

Preparing for the holidays

The picture is Shakespeare in last year's holiday pajamas. 

As we're getting ready for the holidays, I've been thinking through holiday card scenarios with  Shakespeare and Romeo - dressed as elves, wearing holiday pajamas, etc. While it's not yet Thanksgiving, I thought I would get a leg up on taking pictures and possibly making a holiday video with the animals. Now I need to think of a possible storyline for the video. 

Today it was 75 degrees out - very odd for November in Chicago but who am I to complain? I'll take it over the cold, wet weather we were having in October. So we went to Target, bought a bunch of holiday supplies and now I just need to plan it all out. I'll probably start releasing Shakespeare's new Christmas/Holiday pictures and videos starting the day after Thanksgiving. I have a strong belief in keeping Christmas confined to a finite calendar or else it takes some of the special out of the holiday if it lasts too long. 

We'll probably shoot our new footage and pictures in our new bedroom as well (we've been spending the weekend painting the bedroom and we're finishing up with the ceiling today).
